Analyze the homepage for 2 E-commerce websites: Including comparisons and features improvement (Blog#06)
The two E-commerce websites we are looking into in this blog are aliexpress.com and amazon.com.
Amazon.com
This is how homepage of amazon looks like:
Homepage of amazon.com
As, we can see right off the bat on the homepage there is main logo of the company top left, which signifies the brand. Then next to it is the search bar, as we can notice the search bar has quite a significant size and can be seen prominently on the top. This is very important for the user to find their desired product.
Then, as we can see there is location bar provided to optimize the experience. Then, we can see the language option which is quite useful because it provides a larger horizon to the company.
We have a user sign in which we discussed earlier is very useful in analyzing the traffic.
The most important feature that they have provided here is Returns and Orders. Usually this type of button is found in the bottom of the webpage but to provide on the first look is significantly showing that company is very much interested in solving any query related to returns.
If we look to the top right, there is a cart. Which is an important feature and helps the customer to simplify their shopping experience.
Moving towards the main page, there are visible categories for shopping and above that there is a slideshow going on for the products that are either on promotion or in trend right now.
Aliexpress.com
This is how homepage of aliexpress look like:
Homepage of aliexpress.com
In this homepage, we can see a promotional bar right on the top of the webpage. This bar specifically stands out, so if any new trend was in and for it to reach everyone who visited the homepage this will be the perfect spot.
Then, as usual we can the company branding logo on the top left side. On its right is the search bar, which explained earlier is quite useful and also, here again it has been given a significant size for user to be able to explore it.
We can see the wish list feature which enables the customer to save any product for future if there was any discount on it. Right alongside the wish list is the account button. A consumer's personal account helps the website to analyze their behavior and show them the products based on their search data for a more optimized experience.
One thing which should be noted that here on aliexpress the categories have been defined as in tabular form. But, in amazon they were in tiles form.
Then rest of the homepage is just showcasing the products which are up for discount or are trending right now.
